Southeastern Oklahoma is the location, 1934 is the year and moonshine is the subject. This is a story based on actual events. Some facts have been embellished, however, the basis of the story is factual.
The cast consists of the following characters:
Al Parker - A man in his early to mid 20's. Al Parker's family have been Ozark farmers for years. He is ready to continue the tradition when he is faced with government agents that are looking for moonshiners. They are enforcing the law and they believe that Al has broken it. Throughout the story, Al becomes entangled in a web of love, deceit, and honor.
Jeanell Parker - Al's first wife. She is bedridden and becomes ill. As Al tries to take her to the doctor, she becomes worse and she dies.
Thelma Harris - A 17 year old woman who is a new waitress at the local hotel restaurant. She meets and falls in love with Al Parker.
Dona Parker - Al's mother. She is always there to help Al through the tough times. She becomes a main caretaker for Al's two young children.
Freddie Parker - Al's oldest child. A girl about 5years old.
Frankie Parker - Al's youngest child. A boy about 3 years old.
Judge Heart - The local judge. He is a logical, fair minded person. He can see through the exterior actions of people and is able to make decisions about a person's inner character.
Doctor Sheral - The local doctor who also owns the hotel. He understands the needs of the local people and is ready and willing to help in any way he sees fit.
Agent Frye - An aging Federal Agent that takes his job very seriously. He has been passed over for promotion several times. He sees this assignment as one that is menial and he is out to get the bootleggers at any cost. He has a bad attitude and tends to presume guilt before innocence.
